For the past decade, Ryan Nicholson has become one of the busiest and most iconic filmmakers in the underground horror scene. Having given us sick, brutal, gory and outrageous films like GUTTERBALLS, HANGER, LIVE FEED, etc., he never ceases to find new ways to shock and sicken the audience as he churns out one insane gorefest after another. For DEAD NUDE GIRLS, one of his many latest ventures into the sick and depraved, Ryan takes us into the mind of a serial killer and explores his horrific exploits in three vignettes.
The sickie quickie DEAD NUDE GIRLS starts off with the segment “Axe Wound.” A deranged sociopath (played by Nicholson himself) follows a girl into the woods where he tracks her down and kills her. We hear him in narration talk about his sick fetishes and fantasies as we watch him move in on his prey and go for the kill. After the deed is done, we hear him talk about his next move, which is to defile the corpse. We are then introduced to two girls camping out in the woods. Our main psycho comes up to them and asks if he can pitch a tent on their camp site. When they turn him down and say they’re waiting for their boyfriends, he walks off and we hear him discuss his displeasure with the two girls for shunning him away. When the girls are in their tents getting ready to call it a night, he comes back and proceeds to force them out and drag them back to his house unconscious, which is where a gruesome fate awaits them. A fate which involves scissors and an axe. The second segment “Golden Shower” starts off with a young woman looking to get a job as a nurse caring for elderly men showing up at the house of our lead psycho (played by Nicholson once again). He brings her into the house and she sits down while he prepares tea for her and gives her a description of the job she’ll be handling. He says the old man he lives with will need help cleaning himself and that’s when the talk starts to get creepy as he says she’ll need to take her clothes off to bathe him. When he takes her up to the room to see the old guy, we see a horrified reaction on her face as she is grabbed from behind and taken into the bathroom. She is tied up to the shower curtain rod, has her clothing cut off, and her gruesome demise ends with a very sickening act of defilement. If you know what “Golden Shower” means, that’s all you need to know. The third segment “Rump Roast” starts off with a couple prostitutes hanging out outside a gas station. Our main sicko (Nicholson once again) shows up in his car and asks the girls to come along with him as he’s out looking for some fun. It’s when the girls have arrived back at his house that the true horrors that the girls are unaware awaits them come into play. Bound and gagged and stripped of her clothing, the one girl is greeted by a horrific ordeal that involves a chunk of flesh being carved off her bottom and a sick act of cannibalism is what finishes out this gruesome segment.
DEAD NUDE GIRLS is Nicholson at his gross and gory best. While not as effective as TORCHED or as gory as GUTTERBALLS or as depraved as HANGER, it manages to pack a good bit of offensive and sick antics into its short running time of 53 minutes. It was nice to see Nicholson star in the lead role and the actresses do a fine job with the rough material that some may find offensive. They do a fine job acting and don’t seem bothered by nudity and it’s obvious that Nicholson did everything to make sure they were comfortable during the shoot. That’s always something that’s admirable when it comes to these types of low budget films. The gore effects are nasty and well done and the film’s claustrophobic setting works to a good effect. If you’re looking for something raw, vicious and nihilistic, DEAD NUDE GIRLS is a fine piece of cinema for the deranged which delivers the gore and goods expected of a genre at its most unrestrained.
