Cabrito (2015) Extreme Horror CinemaCabrito (2015) is a short film that was that was shared on vimeo for free thanks to filmmaker, writer / director Luciano de Azevedo and his Old Man Filmes. As I felt Luciano’s creation had something to offer those of us into Extreme Horror Cinema and the key words that make this place what it is I felt some words on my experience belong in hereUpon reading this review…I don’t do critiques as I am not a school teacher or critic, I am a fan of Underground films etc…go hit the link I share to Cabrito on the vim and have your own experience.

As previously mentioned Luciano de Azevedo is the main writer along with director for this short film experience that is Cabrito. Along with this he was also involved with the Prosthetics / Make-up, in other words thankfully another film from the underground that doesn’t really heavily on unnecessary CGI such as ants, jaguars or blood etc etc .

Cabrito (2015) Extreme Horror CinemaSorry I just had to pop that out there…CGI for the sake of CGI kinda sux balls!

But anyway, off my soapbox and back into what the discussion is about, Luciano de Azevedo and his short film Cabrito!

”And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:”

Deuteronomy 28 : 53

Cabrito (2015) Extreme Horror CinemaA man comes home from work to get humiliated by his religious mother who constantly borates him with how much a loser he is. Of him disrespecting her and his father.

His girlfriend sleeps around with a lot of guys. She ridicules him and states because he cannot fuck anymore.

Sleeping he dreams of flesh, gore and a boy in a pigs head mask.

Things come to a head and a bloody feast is had!

GORE SICKNESS FILTH INSANITY DEPRAVITY

Cabrito (2015) Extreme Horror CinemaVisions of gore, foetus soup, a room full of offal, a man going insane due to the torment from the women in his life and visions of a boy in a demented pigs mask. There is plenty to be had in the 00:19:00 run time in the name of the key words that describe Extreme Horror Cinema and what we are all about!

Only perceived negative here would be for those who, and yes they exist, people who hate subtitles.

Luciano de Azevedo‘s Cabrito is a beautifully shot short experience on religion, torment and madness! Of a man dealing with guilt and constantly pushed and pushed till he finally snaps. This is symbolised by dreams of a pig head mask wearing boy who is symbol of Satan, if not the dark lord himself. Pushing and pushing to the event at the end, an insane last supper of mother, wide and unborn child.

cabrito-pigAmazing visions of gore permeate our man’s visions. Gore looks seriously good, I suppose real offal was used. Loved the boy’s pig head mask, it looked ragged, organic and filthy. He rubs blood and filth on his acolytes in our man’s dreams and visions. Then the end and the feast. Everything looks visceral and real!

There are four main characters; hell, there are four characters in this short! All were portrayed quite fine with no real issues of um…annoyance.

Cabrito (2015) Extreme Horror CinemaCabrito is well worth checking out and a film that looks amazing on a number of levels. From the visualness of regular life then to the blood soaked visions and the final act. Of push comes to shove in the most insane possible!

Please do yourself the favour if you dig the what you read and go experience Cabrito for yourself here https://vimeo.com/133745781 at the vim.
