When he’s got to go…YOU got to go!
Larry is a guy who has been living with a very serious problem; since childhood he has Irritable Bowel Syndrome! It is so bad it prevents Larry from going about a normal living and social life. On top of this he is the target of the office bully why always seems to find a way to put him down. Along with this the bully fancies the same woman Larry does.
One day Larry accidental kills the bully while at work and a miracle happens, no more I.B.S! He has finally found a cure…murder!
I.B.S (2013) is a Horror Comedy. Going by the brief outline given there are plenty of chances for this with both Larry’s unfortunate burden of having chronic I.B.S along with his ‘cure’…murder.
I.B.S (2013), Irritable Bowel Syndrome, is the latest offering from Maniac Pictures‘ Mike O’Mahony. Mike is well known for his earlier features Deadly Detour (2011) and Sloppy the Psychotic (2012). Apart from 2014’s A Dark Place Inside Mike specialises in creating sick twisted horror comedies. I.B.S is no different!
Beginning credits set the pace! Fart noises while we see pages on a textbook about I.B.S while a clogged up toilet has been flushed! Then we meet Larry, played here by Maniac Films favorite James Costa of Deadly Detour (2011), Sloppy the Psychotic (2012) along with A Dark Place Inside (2014). Larry is a real nice guy with two things that hinder him, one is his condition and the other is the office bully! Both put Larry into situations that can be seen as both funny and sympathetic. Then the incident that really starts the movie rolling, a death and the discovery that killing kills the need to constantly go to the toilet and thus live a normal life. Of course it isn’t normal and we get situations where Larry kills to keep his stomach upset away.
Kill wise we get impalements, run over by ride-on lawn mower, chainsaw anal kill and the finale, which I will not give away here naturally along with others!
My only real complaint here is I felt a certain event in I.B.S (2013) could have been much more insane if the situation was done differently! Would have given the viewer a real nice chance for more sickness, blood and gore! But in stating this, the comedy element was done very well, had me laugh in parts while other parts were nice as it displayed the character of Larry as a good guy before he really goes off the rails!
All up if you dig Horror Comedies with plenty of toilet humor and some sick kills mixed in you should really enjoy Mike O’Mahony’s I.B.S (2013)…When he’s got to go…YOU gotto go!
